Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cabling Technician to join our team to manage and execute cabling projects on an ad hoc basis. This role requires expertise in coordinating the requirements, planning deployments, conducting tests, and ensuring the proper installation and maintenance of network cabling systems. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of industry standards and be able to work efficiently in diverse environments.
Requirements:
- U.S Citizenship required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- This position is 5/days onsite in Washington D.C.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma
- Minimum of six (6) years of IT cabling experience or related.
- Familiarity with industry standards and FAA guidelines.
- Knowledge of various codes and standards, including but not limited to: FCC, IEEE, NFPA, NESC, ANSI, TIA, EIA, BICSI
- Understanding of OSHA rules, regulations, and standards.
- Ability to work in diverse environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, and potentially confined spaces like manholes or utility vaults.
- Capability to provide documentation, including certifications, soft copy test results, and floor plans with jack locations and labels.
BICSI Installer credentials required:
- BICSI Installer 1 (INST1)
- BICSI Installer 2 Copper (INSTC)
- BICSI Installer 2 Optical Fiber (INSTF)
- BICSI Technician (Tech)
Responsibilities:
- Assess and determine the type and quantity of cabling required for cabling projects.
- Develop detailed plans and deployment strategies for cabling projects.
- Organize meetings with site owners and scheduling teams to discuss project specifications and timelines.
- Conduct tests on installed cables to ensure correct termination. Provide soft copies of test results.
- Properly label and lay cables, ensuring neat bundling and effective repairs of network ends of Ethernet cables.
- Terminate cables using appropriate connectors and techniques.
- Ensure that all cables are bundled and managed neatly after installation.
