Elevare Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced PRN Physician Assistant to provide medical evaluation, treatment, medication management, and clinical support for patients receiving detoxification, residential, and outpatient behavioral health services.Working in collaboration with the Medical Director and multidisciplinary treatment team, the Physician Assistant supports medically supervised withdrawal, ongoing medical management, patient stabilization, and continuity of care. This PRN position provides clinical coverage based on patient census, facility needs, provider coverage, and operational demands.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, History and Physicals, and ongoing evaluations for patients receiving detox, residential, and outpatient services.
- Provide medical management of substance use disorders, co-occurring conditions, acute concerns, and chronic health conditions within scope of practice.
- Manage withdrawal treatment protocols, including CIWA and COWS assessments, medication adjustments, symptom management, and patient stabilization.
- Prescribe, monitor, and manage medications, including Medication-Assisted Treatment, in accordance with state regulations and facility clinical protocols.
- Conduct patient rounds, identify changes in medical condition, respond to clinical concerns, and coordinate transfer to higher levels of care when necessary.
- Partner with nursing, clinical, case management, and medical leadership to develop and maintain coordinated, patient-centered treatment plans.
- Complete accurate and timely medical documentation, orders, medication records, and clinical notes in the electronic medical record.
- Provide PRN clinical coverage based on census, admissions, provider availability, and facility needs, including participation in on-call coverage as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license.
- Current DEA registration required with authority to prescribe medications within applicable state requirements and scope of practice.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of clinical experience preferred, with experience in addiction medicine, detoxification, behavioral health, psychiatry, or residential treatment strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of substance use disorders, withdrawal management, Medication-Assisted Treatment, and co-occurring medical and behavioral health conditions.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, decision-making, and emergency response skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians, nursing, clinical teams, and facility leadership.
- Strong electronic medical record proficiency with a commitment to timely, accurate, and regulatory-compliant clinical documentation.
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, along with flexibility to provide PRN coverage based on patient and facility needs.
