Job DescriptionTrial Attorney - Defense Litigation
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Defense Litigation Attorney to join our New York City office. The ideal candidate is a skilled litigator with substantial courtroom and trial experience who is ready to handle a diverse caseload in defense matters. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated cases across multiple practice areas in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of defense litigation cases from inception through trial and appeal.
- Conduct fact investigations, draft pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, and trial briefs.
- Take and defend depositions and participate in other discovery activities.
- Appear in court for arguments, conferences, hearings, and trials.
- Prepare and try cases before juries and judges.
- Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to clients.
- Collaborate with partners and associates on complex matters.
- Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and exceptional service.
- Contribute to business development efforts and firm initiatives.
Practice Areas
This position will focus on defense litigation, including but not limited to:
- Professional Liability
- Construction Litigation
- Insurance Defense
- Products Liability
- General Liability and other complex civil defense matters
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active admission to the New York State Bar (additional state admissions a plus).
- 3+ years of civil defense litigation experience (5+ years preferred).
- Significant courtroom and first-chair trial experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of handling complex litigation matters through all phases, including trial.
- Experience in professional liability, construction, insurance defense, or products liability is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and case management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
