Job Summary
Newberry Group seeks a Sr. Power BI Developer with a strong foundation in AI technologies to lead the development of advanced data visualization tools and automated analytics for a government agency. This role drives data transparency, performance monitoring, and predictive insight delivery across the agency.
Location
Remote/CONUS – must be a US Citizen and able to hold a Public Trust clearance
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards for operational and strategic reporting
- Integrate AI/ML models into Power BI to support predictive analytics, trend detection, and resource optimization
- Collaborate with agency departments to capture requirements and transform public-sector datasets into actionable visuals
- Build and manage semantic models using DAX, Power Query, and SQL in secure cloud environments (e.g., Azure Gov)
- Use Python, R, or Azure ML to process and embed AI model outputs in BI reports
- Ensure full compliance with government data protocols including Section 508 accessibility, FISMA, and FedRAMP standards
- Lead code reviews, documentation efforts, and performance tuning of BI solutions
- Mentor junior developers and build internal capacity in Power BI and AI-powered analytics
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or related field
- At least 7 years of experience in the area of responsibilities above
- Proven expertise in Power BI development including complex DAX and data modeling
- Experience embedding AI/ML outputs into dashboards using Python, Azure ML, or Cognitive Services
- Strong SQL skills and familiarity with structured/unstructured government datasets
- Knowledge of cloud architecture (Azure preferred) and data lake environments
- Understanding of federal IT security frameworks and reporting mandates
- Ability to translate technical outputs into clear, mission-driven insights for non-technical audiences
Preferred Background
- Experience supporting federal, state, or municipal agencies
- Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Azure AI Engineer, or Power Platform
