Job DescriptionJob Description: Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician

Position Overview

The I&E Technician helps keep conveyor systems and plant equipment running by maintaining instrumentation, sensors, electrical hardware, and process controls. This role works in an industrial manufacturing environment, both indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair plant instrumentation, transmitters, analyzers, control valves, switches, and relays.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical systems, and controls.
  • Plan the details of assigned maintenance and repair work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, complex drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Use oscilloscopes, signal generators, voltmeters, multimeters, and high- and low-voltage detectors.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC-based process control systems, analog and discrete input/output devices, and industrial Ethernet communications.
  • Troubleshoot intelligent motor starters and their communication modules.
  • Troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs) and soft starters.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using electrical and electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience reading technical manuals and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Ability to calibrate a wide range of sensors and detectors.
