Job Description

Network Engineer

Location: Aguadilla, Puerto Rico

Job Type: Full-time, On-site

Department: IT & New Technology

OcyonBio PR Inc. is actively expanding its technical capabilities as part of its vision to become an AI-driven CDMO. We are seeking a Network Engineer to serve as the primary lead for the on-site infrastructure supporting our biomanufacturing operations. This role is based at our Aguadilla, PR facility and will be central to our IT & New Technology team's mission to ensure high availability, system integrity, and secure digital operations across the organization.

We are seeking a technically skilled professional with a proactive mindset and a strong record of leadership in managing critical infrastructure. This position is suited for someone who can independently plan and execute improvements to our systems while collaborating effectively with multiple departments and communicating technical direction clearly to a broad range of stakeholders.

Job Description

The Network Engineer will own the deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of OcyonBio’s local infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, network hardware, and security appliances. In this role, the engineer will design and manage network segmentation strategies, maintain access control, monitor system performance, and ensure compliance with applicable standards.

This is not a maintenance-only position. The Network Engineer will serve as the organization’s internal authority on network and infrastructure systems. As such, the individual will be expected to identify risks and gaps, develop improvement plans, and present data-driven recommendations that contribute to overall business continuity, security posture, and system efficiency.

The Network Engineer will function as a subject matter expert with high autonomy and technical leadership expectations, owning all facets of the site’s network and infrastructure systems. Strong leadership is required in the form of initiative, systems thinking, and communication. This person will collaborate across departments and play a critical role in aligning infrastructure strategy with business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, monitor, and maintain core network components: switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Administer physical and virtual servers to support enterprise-grade applications.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and drive rapid resolution to minimize downtime across departments.
  • Manage IP schemas, VLANs, VPN tunnels, and internal DNS configurations.
  • Perform routine system updates, firmware upgrades, and patch management.
  • Work with Facilities and Security teams to ensure physical infrastructure and access control are aligned.
  • Implement and enforce cybersecurity best practices aligned with biopharma standards and audit readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-3+ years of experience in network infrastructure management in high-compliance environments (life sciences, manufacturing, healthcare preferred).
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with network design, server maintenance, and systems uptime monitoring.
  • Familiarity with security standards, firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco), and physical access networks.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to handle cross-functional demands independently.
  • Capable of creating detailed network diagrams, asset inventories, and change documentation.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, VPN, and Layer 2/3 routing protocols.
  • Experience with virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, etc.).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, PRTG, SolarWinds).
  • Competency in scripting and automation of network tasks (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and ISO standards is a plus.
