Make an immediate impact supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher for the Pre-K program. This full-time, contract role runs through May 21, 2027, and offers you the opportunity to work closely with children ages 3-5 in a caring, structured educational environment. You'll collaborate with colleagues and families to nurture both academic and developmental growth for students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
In this position, you’ll play an essential role guiding children in early learning stages, supporting milestones like toileting, feeding, and communication, and encouraging positive behaviors. The Pre-K group includes students who may be non-verbal or minimally verbal and require hands-on assistance throughout the day. Qualifications:
- Hold a valid GaPSC Teaching Certificate with Special Education and General Education Endorsements for Pre-K ages
- Experience in early childhood special education, ideally with students aged 3-5
- Understanding of or background in behavior management and positive reinforcement
- Ability to assist with toileting, diapering, feeding, and other daily living supports
- Strong communication skills, especially with non-verbal children and diverse teams
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for Pre-K students
- Provide direct support in toileting/diapering and feeding tasks
- Utilize creative tools and strategies to encourage communication and participation
- Monitor and address behavioral needs, employing positive interventions
- Regularly communicate with parents, therapists, and school staff to align goals
- Maintain detailed records and contribute to student progress evaluations
