Embedded Systems Engineer | Delta Township, MI

Salary Range: $83,000 - $128,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and tests embedded systems for manufacturing equipment.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.
• Implements and optimizes firmware for microcontrollers and other embedded processors.
• Troubleshoots and debugs hardware and software issues in production environments.
• Develops and maintains technical documentation for embedded systems.
• Participates in the entire product lifecycle, from concept to deployment and maintenance.
• Ensures compliance with industry standards and safety regulations for manufacturing systems.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development for manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, with experience in real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM, PIC) and peripheral interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART).
• Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET).
• Demonstrated ability to debug and test embedded hardware and software in a production setting.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) beyond basic microcontroller OS.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, PROFINET, Modbus).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues on physical production lines.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks for embedded systems.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for embedded devices in an industrial setting.
