Job Description

Our organization is in search of a driven, career-focused, and customer-oriented RESEARCH ANALYST to become a part of our team in Quantico, VA.

The ideal candidate will take on the role of the lead research analyst and structural architect for an upcoming Force Design initiative. This position involves performing comprehensive analyses of current organizational structures across the service and collaborating with a diverse team to strategize how these structures should evolve to address future global security challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the research, design, and analytical writing for the forthcoming Marine Corps Force Design blueprint, converting high-level national military strategies into practical organizational frameworks.
  • Execute thorough quantitative and qualitative analyses of the Marine Corps' existing capabilities, manning documents (T/O&E), and operational alignments across the service.
  • Assess the second- and third-order impacts of proposed force design modifications on DOTMLPF-P (Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel, Facilities, Policy) to provide guidance to senior leadership regarding resource limitations and organizational challenges.
  • Coordinate, integrate, and lead collaborative planning teams and working groups that include military personnel, civilian analysts, and academic experts to tackle intricate force management and integration issues.
  • Examine strategic documents, perform independent research on global security trends, and share insights with external partners at TS/SCI, SAP, CAP, STO, and ACCM levels across all warfighting functional domains.
  • Assist in crafting executive-level presentations, reports, and investment proposals related to future capabilities and force generation modeling.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in force management, force development, or strategic defense planning. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of professional experience in military or defense-related roles, particularly in high-level staff positions (e.g., Service Headquarters, Major Command G-3/5/8, Joint Staff, or Combatant Commands).
  • A strong background in organizational design, capabilities-based assessments (CBAs), or force integration processes, reflecting a professional experience akin to an Army FA-50 Force Management functional area officer.
  • Proven experience in conducting detailed research, synthesizing complex data (manpower, equipment, and readiness), and applying structured analytic techniques to create senior-level decision-making products.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze complex operational concepts, and produce clear, concise strategic documents with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the current United States Marine Corps force structure, Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) doctrine, and the ongoing ‘Force Design’ modernization effort.
  • Formal education or certification in military Force Management (such as the 14-week Army Force Management Qualification Course, ‘How the Army Runs’ course, or Joint Service equivalent).
  • A solid understanding of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS), the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process, and the Joint Strategic Planning System (JSPS).
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as Project Management Professional (PMP/PgMP), Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Requirements Management.

Clearance Requirements:

The candidate must possess a current and active TS/SCI security clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • The individual in this role should be able to remain stationary for approximately 50% of the time.
  • Occasional movement within the office is necessary to access file cabinets, office equipment, or to engage with colleagues, management, and clients through email, phone, or virtual communication, which may include delivering presentations.
