About the Role
The firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join its team in the Melville office. This role provides high-level administrative and litigation support to attorneys and plays a key role in ensuring matters move efficiently through the litigation process. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
This position is fully in-office initially, with the possibility of a hybrid schedule (2 days remote per week) after six months, based on performance and departmental needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality administrative and litigation secretarial support in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist attorneys with the preparation, formatting, and filing of legal documents.
- Manage client communication and correspondence.
- Coordinate document preparation for court filings and ensure compliance with court procedures.
- Maintain organized case files and support attorneys with litigation workflow.
- Handle scheduling, document management, and general administrative tasks related to litigation matters.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
- 4+ years of relevant litigation legal assistant experience.
- A commensurate combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with legal technology and court filing systems, including NYSCEF and Federal Court ECF, as well as transcription software and digital dictation equipment.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated dependability in completing tasks and following through on assignments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
