We are seeking an Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on problem-solving, enjoys both design and project leadership, and wants to make an impact on projects from concept through completion.
What Youll Do
- Lead reverse engineering projects: analyze, inspect, and model existing gears and gearboxes using CAD, 3D scanning, and inspection tools.
- Manage engineering projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Investigate failed or worn components, identify root causes, and develop repair or redesign solutions.
- Prepare cost and time estimates for repairs, rebuilds, and new gear projects.
- Support material sourcing, including selecting appropriate materials and working with suppliers.
- Create and maintain technical documentation such as drawings, BOMs, and inspection reports.
- Work cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to ensure successful project delivery.
- Provide technical support to sales, service, and customer teams.
What Were Looking For
- Bachelors degree in engineering or related field
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or similar); FEA experience a plus.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally in gears, rotating equipment, or industrial machinery.
- Experience with reverse engineering methods (dimensional inspection, 3D scanning, material analysis).
- Familiarity with CMM inspection techniques.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing documentation (BOMs, routings).
- Familiarity with estimating and material procurement/sourcing.
- Knowledge of gear design theory, metallurgy, and manufacturing processes (hobbing, shaping, grinding, heat treatment).
- Strong project management skills (scheduling, budgeting, cross-functional coordination).
- PMP certification or formal project management training is a plus.
Physical Demands
- Office-based role with frequent shop floor visits.
- May occasionally lift or move objects up to 2025 lbs (components, samples, tools).
- Close vision required for detailed part inspections and CAD/drawing review.
- Occasional travel to customer or supplier sites.
