Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in a commercial or industrial setting. This role also involves operating machine tools and assembling parts to fabricate tools, mechanisms, and machines for experimental and production purposes.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and test machinery and equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Diagnose malfunctions by listening for unusual sounds and consulting with supervisors or other maintenance staff.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment; install new or repaired parts.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery components.
- Install and repair electrical apparatus, including transformers, wiring, and electronic components.
- Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Install, program, and repair automated machinery and equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, install, and program Omron PLCs.
- Set up and operate machine tools (lathe, grinder, drill, milling machine) to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
- Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Consult with engineers and other personnel regarding equipment design, capacity, and purpose.
- Analyze specifications, drawings, sketches, and instructions to plan layout and sequence of operations.
- Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts for special engineering needs.
- Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
- Install parts and materials such as sheet metal, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants, and batteries.
- Recommend changes for efficiency and adaptability through Kaizen activities.
Essential Skills
- Experience with maintenance equipment, machining, and change over.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting grinders, welding, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance and dismantle defective machines.
- Skill in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical apparatus and electronic components.
- Experience in maintaining and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and piping systems.
- Proficiency in operating machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines.
- Capability to perform welding and metal fabrication as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certificate from trade school or alternative certification in electrical, mechanical, or welding applications.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective communication skills before groups of employees.
- Basic algebra skills.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment
The work environment is fast-paced and high-volume, with employees often working in a production setting with frequent machine operation and inspection tasks. The company promotes teamwork and open dialogue, aiming to create a sense of ownership and camaraderie among employees. Employees are regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use their hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift/move more than 100 pounds. The role requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Employees are regularly exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes/airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration, with possible exposure to outside weather conditions. Hearing protection is required due to noise levels. The work schedule includes long hours and mandatory overtime, often 5–6 days a week with 10–12 hour shifts, on a rotating schedule of 4 days on, 4 days off, with shifts from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $56160.00 - $62649.00/yr.
