Saenz-Garcia Law, PLLC is a dedicated legal practice specializing in immigration law. We are committed to providing comprehensive legal services to clients facing immigration challenges. Our team is passionate about advocating for justice andensuring that our clients' rights are protected. We are seeking talented 2nd and 3rd-year law students to join our team remotely as Part-Time Law Clerks.
We are offering a unique opportunity for law students to gain hands-on experience by providing direct, substantive legal support to our attorneys in our fast-paced environment. This role focuses heavily on legal analysis, persuasive writing, and strategic case preparation.


What our Law Clerks Do:

  • Legal Research Writing: Conduct in-depth research on complex issues in immigration and crimmigration law, including case law, statutes, and country conditions.
  • Drafting Critical Motions: Draft, edit, and finalize core legal documents such as Motions to Terminate (MTRs) and extensive briefs for the BIA and Immigration Courts (PSG/PHS briefs).
  • Evidence Management: Review, organize, and summarize voluminous evidence (criminal records, affidavits, country reports) and prepare materials for court submission.
  • Litigation Support: Prepare attorneys for hearings by assembling trial packets, creating chronologies and charts, and drafting formal discovery/document requests (e.g., FOIA requests).

About the Position:

  • Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
  • Schedule: Flexible hours, approximately 15-20 hours per week, agreed upon with the supervising attorney/coordinator.
  • Location: Fully Remote. The Law Clerk must provide their own computer equipment, reliable internet access, and dedicated workspace.
  • Reporting: Reports to one of our Managing Attorneys.

The Part-Time Law Clerk role is designed to provide a pipeline of opportunity for future full-time associate positions. Upon successful completion of law school and bar licensure, we intend to actively consider strong candidates who have excelled in this role for any open associate attorney positions

Requirements:

What we are looking for

  • Currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd-year law student.
  • Superior legal research, writing, and analytical skills are mandatory, with demonstrated proficiency in proper legal citation (e.g., Bluebook).
  • Strong preference for candidates with:
  • Previous law clinic experience (Immigration, Asylum, or Criminal Justice focus).
  • Completed coursework in Immigration Law, Criminal Law/Procedure, Evidence, and/or Appellate Advocacy.
  • Direct experience drafting MTRs, motions to terminate, PSG, or PHS briefs.
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage a high-volume workload professionally.
