Job Description

Data Specialist-Regulatory

Contract - 12+ months

Hybrid- Pawtucket, RI

4 days/week onsite, 1 day/week remote


Must Haves:

  • Degree in, or coursework towards a degree in science (chemistry, biology, microbiology, EHS(Environment, Health & Safety), toxicology, etc)
  • Comfortable with new computer programs
  • Willingness to spend most time reading documents and clicking dropdown menus. Then a decent amount of emailing mixed in.
  • MS Office Suite- basic experience (Word, PDF, etc)


Plus:

  • Data entry and/or documentation
  • Familiar with SDSs
  • Familiar with FDA regulations (indirect food contact, not medical devices, but possibly direct food additives could be comparable)
  • Familiar with other common regulations, such as Prop65 and SVHC.


They will train on all of the above!


Job Description:

Regulatory Data Specialist I


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for gathering regulatory data for purchased materials from the company’s suppliers; reviewing the incoming data and entering it into the WERCS Regulatory Data System (WERCS); and filing the supplier responses and documentation for future reference.


Responsibilities:

· Read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and regulatory documents

· Interprets existing Domestic and Global Regulations for their effects on the company

· Review and entry of chemical composition and regulatory data from supplier SDSs and regulatory documents into WERCs database system

· Maintain contact with Suppliers/Vendors for new and missing regulatory data, including obtaining completed Regulatory Questionnaires, SDSs and other required information on a regular basis

· Coordinate the management of SDS’s and regulatory information

· Document uploading and archiving of regulatory documents and SDSs in the WERCs system

· Provide internal customers with regulatory documentation

· Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

· Work consists of moderately complex procedures and tasks where basic analytic ability is required as in the comparison of numbers, selection of appropriate guidelines and procedures, or identification of appropriate actions to follow.

· A high degree of analytic ability and inductive thinking is required to devise new or more technically complex problems.

· Work scope is mainly data obtainment, data evaluation and data entry. With part of the data validation being regulatory review.

· Ability to understand regulations and validate documents for completeness.

· Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office), effective communications skills and excellent organizational practices.

· Detail-oriented, and analytical thinking

· 1-2 years of data entry experience, preferred, document review and validation desired.

· Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system desired.

· Experience with regulatory databases\SDS authoring system, desired.

· Four-year degree or equivalent experience in a field of study such as chemistry, biology, toxicology or engineering, etc.

· Working knowledge of the fundamental chemistry principles is a plus.
