General Summary:

Provide strategic leadership and manage a team of Project Managers focused on the execution of complex transmission projects. Responsible for the successful initiation and safety driven execution of complex, hi-revenue, electrical projects, including but not limited to operations, project team management, safety, strategic business planning, and profitability.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Monitor transmission project planning across the country with the focus of bidding and obtaining large projects (50+) miles. Responsible for team’s profitability.
  • Actively pursue and acquire new business through developing and maintaining strong client relationships, presentations to prospective clients, sound understanding of proposed project plans, specifications, and other contractual documents.
  • Establish work performance goals and expectations by applying industry and company best practices, core and behavioral competencies and success factors to. Champion the cause to build a best in industry transmission team.
  • Anticipate and position the organization to meet future business needs in a competitive environment. Accountable for future growth and development of the team with a focus on process and continuous improvement.
  • Works closely with architect and engineers to resolve design related construction issues including timely processing and approvals of project shop drawings.
  • Negotiates fee changes. Releases completed project to the full satisfaction of the customer.
  • Strengthen customer relationships through hosting and/or participating in company-supported events. De-escalate customer concerns and provide prompt resolutions.
  • Maintains sound union relationships with field employees and local business managers. Participates in joint labor management committees and apprenticeship subcommittees. Develop thorough understanding of labor agreements.
  • Attendance at annual divisional and departmental meetings and social functions is required.
  • Performs other duties/special projects as assigned. May serve on corporate and special division committees as required.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or construction management, or journeyman electrician or lineman certification or equivalent technical education.
  • 15 years of experience in heavy construction or the equivalent combination of education and experience in utility transmission and distribution delivery systems and/or construction industry.
  • 5 years in a management position responsible for managing construction and/or transmission line/substation construction or O&M organizations consisting of both represented and non-represented employees.
  • 5 years of experience managing large/cost sensitive projects with a focus on risk management and safety.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software and related construction database systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop new business.
  • Results Oriented, Analytical and problem solving, strong interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience of serving on Industry related organizations, IBEW Committee or board would be a plus

Description of physical working environment:

  • Works in a standard office environment. Tasks in the office involve regular sitting or standing with computer use. Repetitive typing is common, and occasional bending, twisting, and light lifting may be required with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • The ability to climb up and down ladders and steps on site with or without reasonable accommodation is required.
  • Ability to Travel 25% of the time.
