Position Overview

"Navitas Partners, LLC" is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Network Security Engineer to support the hardening and modernization of enterprise network infrastructure. This role focuses on auditing legacy configurations, strengthening network segmentation, and advancing a Zero-Trust security architecture.

The ideal candidate will lead firewall governance initiatives, eliminate technical debt, and ensure global network compliance with institutional security standards.

Key Responsibilities1. Firewall & ACL Governance

  • Conduct comprehensive audits of firewall rule sets and Access Control Lists (ACLs) to remove redundant, outdated, or overly permissive entries.

  • Assist in developing and enforcing standardized procedures for firewall and ACL changes.

  • Ensure all modifications align with established security policies and compliance frameworks.

2. Network Segmentation & Isolation

  • Review and enhance network segmentation strategies, including micro-segmentation, to reduce attack surface and prevent lateral movement.

  • Design and implement VLANs and routing policies to enforce strict separation across trust zones (e.g., Student, Faculty, Research, IoT, Administrative networks).

3. Legacy Infrastructure Decommissioning

  • Identify and decommission legacy network segments, unused VLANs, and obsolete hardware configurations.

  • Lead migration and consolidation efforts from specialized or outdated infrastructures to standardized, modern platforms.

4. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate network topology diagrams and detailed documentation for all security and segmentation changes.

  • Ensure all network security activities comply with internal security mandates and external regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in network security engineering within enterprise environments.

  • Hands-on expertise with firewall technologies and ACL management.

  • Proven experience in network segmentation, VLAN configuration, and routing policies.

  • Familiarity with Zero-Trust architecture principles.

  • Experience decommissioning legacy infrastructure and modernizing network environments.

  • Excellent documentation and compliance management skills.
