Boater’s World Marine Centers is expanding our service department in Albany, GA, and we’re looking for an experienced Service Writer to join our growing team.

The Service Writer plays a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience. You’ll act as the communication bridge between our customers and technicians—ensuring repair needs are clearly documented, expectations are set, and service orders are handled accurately and efficiently.
You’ll work closely with the Service Manager and technicians to maintain smooth operations, exceptional service turnaround, and happy customers.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience
- Welcome and assist customers with professionalism and a friendly attitude.
- Build trust by listening carefully to customer concerns and explaining service needs clearly.
- Provide timely updates on repair status, costs, and completion timelines.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth communication and customer satisfaction.
Service Writing & Administrative Support
- Accurately document service needs and perform unit inspections upon intake.
- Create detailed estimates and repair orders using Lightspeed or similar dealership software.
- Verify maintenance history and ensure all approvals are documented.
- Manage sublet repairs, parts requests, and vendor coordination when needed.
- Identify and communicate additional service opportunities that benefit customers.
Team Support
- Support technicians and management with scheduling and workflow coordination.
- Maintain an organized, professional workspace and assist with other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a Service Writer (marine, powersports, or automotive industry preferred).
- General knowledge of boating products, systems, and marine engines.
- Proficiency with dealership or service management software (Lightspeed experience a plus).
- Excellent communication and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized in a busy environment.
- Positive, team-oriented mindset and a professional demeanor.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with occasional work in the service shop.
- May require overtime during peak boating seasons.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
