Job Description

Systems Integration Engineer

Blackrock Strategy Inc. | YPG/AZ, Huntsville (HSV), NCR | Full-Time

About Blackrock Strategy

Blackrock Strategy is a Veteran-Owned Small Business supporting high-priority defense and national security efforts. We operate in complex environments where clarity drives execution, insight reduces risk, and the right people make a disproportionate impact.

The Role

Blackrock Strategy is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to support the integration and evaluation of emerging technologies across defense programs.

This role operates at the intersection of engineering, operations, and mission execution. This requires individuals who can quickly understand complex environments, work across teams, and provide reliable, high-quality support in dynamic conditions.

Success in this role requires strong communication, sound judgment, and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze system-level requirements, constraints, and integration challenges
  • Support evaluation and integration of emerging technologies into operational environments
  • Coordinate across engineering, program, and operational teams to ensure alignment
  • Translate technical information into clear, actionable insight for stakeholders
  • Support development of technical documentation (reports, test plans, assessments)
  • Identify risks, gaps, and inefficiencies early and communicate them effectively
  • Contribute to a team-first environment, supporting mission execution over individual visibility

What Success Looks Like

  • You quickly build situational awareness of systems, teams, and mission objectives
  • You operate with minimal direction, identifying issues and driving clarity
  • You communicate clearly and concisely with both technical teams and leadership
  • You are viewed as a reliable, trusted contributor who delivers consistently
  • You align with team priorities and contribute where needed—not just where visible

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, integration, or test environments
  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or military programs
  • Active TS/SCI clearance (or strong preference for candidates eligible and able to obtain quickly)
  • Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills
  • Ability to operate independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with systems engineering lifecycle processes
  • Familiarity with Agile or iterative development environments
  • Strong technical writing and briefing skills
  • Experience working in government customer environments (e.g., Pentagon, test ranges such as YPG)

Location & Travel

  • Preferred locations: Yuma Proving Ground (AZ), Huntsville (AL), National Capital Region (NCR)
  • Remote work may be considered for highly qualified candidates, dependent on demonstrated autonomy and reliability
  • Travel up to ~25% may be required

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to meet program-specific physical, security, and compliance requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and U.S. passport

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to work on high-impact defense efforts, contributing to real mission outcomes alongside experienced operators, engineers, and program leaders.

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Take ownership
  • Think critically
  • Show up consistently
  • And prioritize team success over individual recognition

Language Skills

Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts in English, both verbally and in writing, to technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to prepare executive-level briefings, technical summaries, and architectural guidance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to evaluate complex system architectures, analyze technical tradeoffs, and synthesize input from multiple organizations into cohesive, actionable direction.

Capable of identifying risks, integration challenges, and system impacts while applying sound engineering judgment.
