Job Description
The Laundry Aide is responsible for ensuring that all facility linens, clothing, and resident personal items are cleaned, processed, and distributed in a safe, sanitary, and timely manner. This role supports infection control standards and helps maintain a clean, comfortable environment for residents and staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute facility linens and resident clothing
· Operate laundry equipment safely and according to facility guidelines
· Maintain proper infection control practices, including handling soiled linens per policy
· Label and track the residents personal clothing to prevent loss
· Ensure clean linens are stored in a neat, organized, and sanitary manner
· Deliver linens and clothing to designated areas promptly
· Monitor laundry supplies and report shortages to the supervisor
· Keep laundry area clean, organized, and hazard-free
· Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE
· Assist with special laundry requests as needed
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred
· Previous laundry or housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting preferred
· Ability to follow directions and work independently
· Strong attention to detail and organization skills
· Ability to handle physical demands of the job
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
· Ability to push/pull laundry carts
Compliance & Expectations
Follow all California Title 22 and CDPH guidelines related to infection control and environmental services. Maintain resident dignity and confidentiality (HIPAA compliance). Adhere to facility policies and procedures at all times.
