Overview
Our customer, a leading infrastructure services organization supporting large-scale broadband network deployments, is seeking an experienced Coax Splicer II to support a major outdoor coax network upgrade initiative in Minnesota. This role is part of an ongoing maintenance and improvement program focused on expanding high-speed network capabilities and improving plant performance.

The ideal candidate is a senior-level field technician with strong coax / HFC experience, a solid understanding of plant balancing and signal performance, and the ability to lead by example in the field. Exposure to fiber work is helpful, but fiber splicing is not required for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Coax / HFC Technical Execution

  • Perform coax splicing, activation, balancing, and troubleshooting in field environments
  • Support maintenance, upgrades, and restoration efforts across coax plant infrastructure
  • Diagnose signal and performance issues within HFC networks and take corrective action
  • Verify work quality and system performance in alignment with customer and project requirements

Field Leadership

  • Lead and support multi-day field projects and daily field activities
  • Mentor junior Installation Specialists and field technicians
  • Promote safe, efficient, and high-quality work practices in the field
  • Coordinate with supervisors, teammates, and customer stakeholders as needed

Documentation & Quality Control

  • Produce accurate, audit-ready field documentation
  • Track completed work, issues identified, and corrective actions taken
  • Ensure adherence to customer specifications, company procedures, and industry standards

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of coax / HFC field experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with coax splicing, plant activation, troubleshooting, and balancing
  • Solid understanding of signal flow, amplification, and coax network performance principles, including amp balancing
  • Experience troubleshooting complex field issues in live network environments
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in crew-based or project-based field settings
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with field teams and management
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and physical field environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience leading field crews or mentoring junior technicians
  • Experience working on large-scale broadband or HFC upgrade projects
  • Exposure to fiber infrastructure, fiber testing, or fiber splicing work
  • Training, familiarity, or prior support experience in both coax and fiber environments

Work Environment / Additional Information

  • Field-based outdoor work environment
  • Report daily to a designated facility
  • Company vehicle provided for daily use (no take-home vehicle)
  • Gas card provided
  • Crew-based field operations; occasional shared transportation arrangements may occur
  • Schedule typically includes an early morning start, with end times dependent on project progress, daylight, and weather conditions
  • Occasional weekend work may be required to meet project timelines

Compensation

  • $19/hour - $23/hour (based on experience)
