Overview: Looking for a skilled Cabling Technician to join their Infrastructure Service team. The ideal candidate will have experience in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting CAT6, single and multi-mode fiber. This role involves working closely with the project manager, estimators, and customers to ensure project requirements are met efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with customers to review project scope and individual tasks.
- Pull, install, and support CAT 5e/CAT6 cable.
- Pull, install, and support innerduct with fiber.
- Terminate, test, and label CAT5e, CAT6, and Single/Multi Mode fiber.
- Build out complete IDF/DMF including installing racks, cabinets, and ladder racking.
- Dress cables and install fiber channel trays.
- Install grounding and bonding, including TMGB bars.
- Perform drilling, including the use of hammer and core drills; cut ceiling tiles.
- Penetrate firewalls and install UL-approved fire penetration solutions including fire sleeves and fire stops.
- Create detailed as-built documentation of the complete job.
- Test and certify installed cables, including copper and fiber.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in CAT6, CAT5, cable installation, punchdown, structured cabling, and low voltage systems.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high sense of urgency.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the trade and use Fluke test equipment.
- Ability to follow directions and resolve problems.
- Reliable, dependable, self-motivated, and willing to learn and contribute to the development of a successful Infrastructure Service team.
- Ability to work out of town, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability to read and understand construction floorplans.
- Effective communication with clients, peers, managers, and product manufacturers via email and phone.
- Ability to work closely with peers and the Project Manager.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Lead Cabling Technician.
- Knowledge of telecommunications standards and customer needs to provide recommendations.
Work Environment: This position is on-site in Santa Barbara, CA, and may require travel, weekend, and holiday work as needed.
