Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift & Schedule: Day/Night Shift | 12 Hours | 3x12 Hours | 36 Hours/Week | Every Other Weekend
Local Candidates Required: Yes
Traveler Candidates Required: Yes

Pay Rate
Local: $50 – $53/hr
Traveler: $53 – $57/hr

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry RN to provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients, including higher-acuity and stroke/TIA populations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience.

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant Med-Surg/Telemetry experience.

  • First-time travelers are not accepted.

  • Active Tennessee RN license.

  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

  • Minimum 1 year of EPIC experience.

  • Strong Med-Surg and Telemetry nursing experience.

  • Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients.

  • Willingness to work every other weekend.

  • Willingness to float to other units based on facility needs and skill set.

  • Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and patient-care skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a Med-Surg/Telemetry setting.

  • Perform nursing assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition.

  • Care for patients with stroke, TIA, seizure, syncope, CHF, sepsis, respiratory failure, and other complex medical conditions.

  • Monitor telemetry and recognize and report changes in cardiac rhythm or patient status.

  • Administer medications safely and accurately using the Omnicell medication system.

  • Perform and monitor nursing interventions related to dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous bladder irrigation as appropriate.

  • Provide post-procedure care for patients following heart catheterization.

  • Monitor vital signs, neurological status, laboratory results, and overall patient condition.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC.

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.

  • Promote patient safety, comfort, and a positive patient experience.

  • Float to other units based on facility needs and the nurse’s qualifications.

  • Follow hospital policies, infection-control procedures, and patient-safety standards.
