Job Summary:

Robert Half is seeking an IT Support Technician for our client in the Madison area. This role is responsible for providing technical assistance to employees, ensuring seamless operation of IT systems and infrastructure. This role involves resolving hardware and software issues, managing help desk tickets, coordinating IT setups for new facilities, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the desktop environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong customer service skills, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate with other IT team members.


This is a Permanent, full-time role that will require an onsite work schedule (5 days/week).


Responsibilities:

  • Provide first and second-level technical support for employees and contractors.
  • Lead help desk projects, develop implementation plans, and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Diagnose and resolve PC/Network, software, and hardware issues; escalate when required.
  • Support IT efforts in setting up infrastructure for new facilities, including equipment and network setup.
  • Fulfill help desk requests, maintain hardware/software, and manage system updates.
  • Install operating systems and software on PCs, mobile devices, and Thin Clients.
  • Support and maintain printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and ensure IT asset functionality.
  • Maintain computer/peripheral inventory and provide regular updates on desktop environment status.
  • Assist with telephone systems, voicemail menus, and analyze phone system reports.
  • Remove viruses/malware, troubleshoot network connectivity issues, and conduct cable testing.
  • Build and deploy standard desktop images for end-users.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field preferred or 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • A+ Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Windows 10/11, and common troubleshooting tools.
  • Familiarity with networking (LAN, wireless, VPN), Active Directory, and VoIP systems is a plus.
  • Experience in hardware/software installation, troubleshooting, and IT configuration tasks.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an IT team.
