Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Personal Care:Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and toileting.
- Mobility:Helping clients move around, transfer from a bed or wheelchair, and ambulate (walk).
- Meal Management:Planning and preparing nutritious meals, feeding clients, and assisting with shopping.
- Household Tasks:Performing light housekeeping, such as making beds, doing laundry, and maintaining a clean living environment.
- Companionship:Providing emotional support, engaging in conversations, participating in hobbies, and accompanying clients to social events.
- Medication Reminders:Assisting clients with taking their medication on time, as directed by a care plan.
Work Environment & Collaboration
- Settings:PCAs work in diverse environments, including clients' homes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
- Communication:PCAs must effectively communicate changes in a client's condition or needs to supervisors, family members, and other healthcare professionals.
- Record Keeping:They are responsible for documenting care services, observations, and any changes in the client's health or behavior.
