Job DescriptionMechanical Assistant Project Manager

Position Summary
The Mechanical Assistant Project Manager supports the successful delivery of mechanical construction projects from kickoff through closeout. This role helps coordinate submittals, procurement, schedules, budgets, and change orders while supporting Project Managers and field teams to ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with contract requirements. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone looking to grow into a Project Manager or operations leadership role within the mechanical construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support planning, coordination, and execution of assigned mechanical construction projects.

  • Assist with project administration including contracts, submittals, RFIs, documentation, and compliance to reduce risk and avoid claims.

  • Help develop and manage project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cost tracking.

  • Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment, including buyout and subcontract agreements.

  • Maintain submittal logs, schedules, and project documentation.

  • Support progress billings, change orders, and monthly project financial reporting.

  • Track labor productivity, staffing needs, and resource loading with field leadership.

  • Participate in pre-construction and project turnover meetings.

  • Review invoices, track payments and retention, and support collections as needed.

  • Monitor tools, equipment rentals, and overall project cost control.

  • Act as a liaison between project managers, field teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure smooth communication and execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Typically 5+ years of experience in mechanical construction, project engineering, or project coordination.

  • Strong understanding of construction project lifecycle, budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with field and office teams.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software is a plus.
