Summary
The Innkeeper at Riversong Inn is responsible for owning and executing the daily operations of a high-touch, detail-oriented guest experience. This role requires a balance of warm hospitality and structured execution, including guest services, breakfast and afternoon tea service, housekeeping, property upkeep, and event coordination.
As operations expand with afternoon tea service and a busy wedding season, this role requires a highly reliable, detail-oriented individual who can maintain consistent standards, manage multiple responsibilities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and responsibilities
Innkeeping Duties:
- Guest Services: Welcome guests upon arrival, providing a warm and personalized check-in experience.
- Reservations: Handle reservations, cancellations, and payments through our booking system. Ensure accurate guest information is maintained.
- Breakfast Preparation: Plan and safely prepare daily gourmet breakfasts with a variety of options, accommodating dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Guest Assistance: Provide excellent customer service by attending to guests' needs, offering local recommendations, and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Check-Out: Efficiently process guest check-out and request feedback to continually improve services.
- Checklists: To complete innkeeper tasks according to checklists, policies, and processes established by the Inn.
- Other tasks as assigned
Grounds Maintenance:
- Safety: Ensure outdoor areas, including walkways, patios, and parking areas, are clean, safe, and accessible for guests.
- Seasonal Maintenance: Perform seasonal tasks, such as snow removal in winter and gardening in spring and summer.
Afternoon Tea Service:
- Prepare, set, and execute daily afternoon tea service with attention to presentation, timing, and guest experience
- Maintain consistent standards in food preparation, table settings, cleanliness, and service flow
- Reset and maintain tea service areas throughout the day
- Anticipate guest needs and provide a polished, welcoming experience
- Follow established processes and checklists to ensure consistency and quality
- Wedding Coordination:Set-Up & Decoration: Prepare event spaces with dcor and set up for weddings and other events, ensuring the space is beautiful and functional.
On-Site Coordination: Oversee the wedding day, ensuring all details are executed smoothly, including managing vendors and directing event timelines.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience in Hospitality: Previous experience in an inn, bed and breakfast, or hotel setting is preferred.
- Cooking Skills: Ability to prepare and serve a variety of breakfast dishes, including accommodating dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.).
- Cleaning & Maintenance: Comfort with light housekeeping and basic grounds maintenance tasks, including lawn care and seasonal landscaping.
- Event Coordination: Experience with weddings or event planning is a plus.
- Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on creating a memorable guest experience.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities, including guest services, maintenance, and event coordination.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and during events.
- Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with booking software and basic office tasks (email, scheduling, etc.).
Qualifications
- GED or high school diploma is required
- A minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience is preferred
- Able to perform the physical demands of the position
- Must maintain active Driver's License to run errands if needed
- Successfully complete and maintain certifications and any other training required and/or requested by the organization
