Reporting to the VP of Table Games, the Poker Manager is responsible for the overall operation, supervision and administration of the Poker Room. Also responsible for enhancing the growth of gaming revenues through the development of our customer base. Maintains relationships with valued gaming guests and markets our gaming product to potential high-limit guest.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees the Poker Room daily operations ensuring that all policies, procedures and gaming regulations are adhered to and consistently followed
  • Establishes and oversees performance and service standards of the Poker Room
  • Enforces all poker procedures and policies
  • Greets guests in the casino and participates in social events and special promotions
  • Professional attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to network with people within the property, company, industry and regulatory community as needed to effectively manage our poker business
  • Creation and execution of marketing promotions to drive incremental business
  • Creates and ensures a fun-filled, entertaining and exciting environment where the flawless delivery and execution of service excellence is paramount
  • Provides appropriate recognition and rewards to individuals and groups when consistent superior performance is attained.
  • Works as a change agent to improve and streamline department operations, through the continuous assessment of policies and procedures, work processes and program effectiveness and value.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies and with currency transaction requirements, Title 31, and money laundering and Suspicious Activity Reporting for Casinos (SARC) requirements
  • Responsible for, or actively participates in, the initiation of personnel actions including but not limited to: interview, training, candidate selection, terminations, transfers, grievances, and disciplinary actions
  • Act as a role model and coach while developing team members using a consistent, approachable demeanor and clearly articulating expectations
  • Monitors team member performance and analyzes staffing patterns and makes changes to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained
  • Clearly communicates and enforces company expectations including policies, procedures, department goals and business strategy
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time (4 hours).
  • Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling employee conflicts.
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; and, have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel.
  • Respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises and bright lights.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several projects, and not be frustrated by changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives.

  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to calmly handle stressful situations and guest concerns
  • Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required.
  • Must be highly motivated and self-directed.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience, preferably in the gaming industry
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a Poker Dealer and/or Poker Supervisor is required
  • Experience working in a union environment preferred
  • Must be 21 years of age.

Required Certification/License

  • Ability to obtain a Gaming Occupational License within the State of Ohio.
