Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Schedule: Mid Shift or Night Shift
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt


Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine, corrective, and preventative maintenance on production and facility equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime and supporting production by troubleshooting and maintaining blending, pre-weigh, filling, packaging, and facility systems, including HVAC.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, corrective, and preventative maintenance on production and facility equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to minimize equipment downtime
  • Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), corrective maintenance (CMs), and assigned work orders accurately and on schedule
  • Follow established maintenance procedures, standards, and SOPs
  • Assist with equipment installations, repairs, upgrades, and modifications
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and equipment records
  • Communicate equipment issues, repair status, and improvement opportunities to supervisors
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, tools, and equipment
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and other departments to support safety, quality, and productivity goals
  • Work with outside vendors, contractors, and service providers as directed
  • Adhere to all company safety, housekeeping, regulatory, and policy requirements
  • Operate forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts (certification required or ability to obtain)
  • Serve as a hands-on maintenance resource to support production needs across assigned shifts

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician, preferably in a food, dietary supplement, or manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills with the ability to read schematics and technical drawings
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment and implementing corrective actions
  • Working knowledge of Maintenance Management Software preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Willingness to work weekends as needed
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA, HACCP, and cGMP regulations preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical school or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, or mechanical fields
  • Experience with electrical systems, HVAC, and plumbing
  • Understanding of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and industrial controls
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience a plus
  • Redzone experience a plus

Certifications

  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing and warehouse environment
  • Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and use of tools
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Physical activities may include climbing, kneeling, crawling, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to read displays, distinguish colors, hear alarms, and remain aware of surroundings
  • Exposure to machinery with moving parts, humidity, and close-proximity teamwork
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions, ladders, scaffolding, and working alone

Travel

  • Minimal travel required (infrequent visits to other facilities or activities)
