Position: McGard Engineering Technician
As an Engineering Lab Technician at McGard, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our engineering department. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, assisting engineers in data entry, filing, copying, preparation of various reports, claims, forms, charts, graphs and memos for management staff. You will also assist with maintaining records of business transactions.

- This position mandates that all required safety classes, training, and certifications be completed and maintained within the specific position/department.
- Is aware of relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives.
- This position requires an employee to work their regularly scheduled shift; ability to work overtime and weekends.
- Must be aware of and comply with related IATF/ISO procedures, as applicable.
- Must meet qualitative and quantitative standards for the position and department.
- Create Maintenance Work Orders and PMs.
- Complete PM task change request form.
- Perform PMs on production machinery, equipment, and tooling
- Publish weekly reports.
- Obtain meter readings and data collection from machinery in assigned departments.
- Contact vendors to schedule service when necessary. Assist vendors as needed.
- Create, change, and update McGard and SPD Work Instructions.
- Update files and documents for McGard Departments.
- Create training and set up documents.
- Perform training on equipment, setups and work instructions.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the importance of “housekeeping” within the workspace, and how it relates to both safety and the 5S systems/methodology.
- Prepare graphs or charts of data or enter data into computer for analysis.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Suggests in written or oral form, modifications to existing quality or production standards to receive optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Performs problem solving at various operation stages and assists in training other personnel in proper inspection and problem-solving methods.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues and or faults in production processes, equipment, tooling, vision systems, automation, and robotics.
- Maintains equipment availability and production readiness.
- Performs and assists operators in tooling changeovers.
- Setup and monitors tooling.
- Maintains inventories of equipment, parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
- Assists in the startup, validation, documentation and training of new tooling, equipment, and automation.
- Assists Engineers with project work and day-to-day tasks.
EDUCATION / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
- High school diploma required.
- Experience with sensors, sensor setup, and adjustments.
- Experience with vision systems, automation, and robotics.
- Ability to operate machinery and technical equipment.
- Two (2) year technical degrees are preferred.
- Technical experience preferred.
