Job Overview:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Budtender to join our team at Don Fuego medical cannabis dispensary. As a Budtender, you will be the primary point of contact for patients, providing them with expert advice on medical cannabis products, assisting with product selection, and ensuring a positive, educational, and compliant shopping experience. Your goal will be to support patients in understanding their medical cannabis options, guide them in selecting products that meet their specific needs, and help them feel confident in their treatment choices, all while promoting the Don Fuego brand name and upholding our ethos: an elite unrivaled experience, every time. This is not your average dispensary!

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Consultation: Greet patients and provide personalized service by discussing their symptoms and medical needs. Offer recommendations for cannabis strains, edibles, concentrates, and other products based on patient preferences, medical conditions, and therapeutic goals.

Product Knowledge: Stay up to date on the latest cannabis products, strains, and industry trends. Provide accurate information on potency, effects, dosage, and consumption methods.

Sales & Transactions: Assist patients in selecting appropriate products while ensuring compliance with local regulations. Required to learn and be proficient in dispensary and retail POS systems. Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, including cash handling and maintaining correct inventory records. Drive retail sales and patient retention.

Education & Support: Provide educational resources and information on safe consumption practices, potential side effects, and legal regulations surrounding medical cannabis use.

Compliance: Ensure all patient interactions and transactions comply with local and federal regulations, including verification of patient eligibility and maintaining patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA guidelines.

Inventory Management: Assist with restocking shelves, monitoring product levels, and reporting discrepancies to management. Help maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked dispensary environment.

Customer Service: Foster a welcoming, supportive, and empathetic environment, addressing patient concerns and ensuring they leave with the knowledge and products they need for their well-being.

Qualifications:

Experience: Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred. Experience in the cannabis industry or knowledge of medical cannabis is highly desirable but not required.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of cannabis products, consumption methods, and their potential effects. Familiarity with the medical cannabis landscape is a plus.

Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information in an approachable manner. Ability to listen to and understand patient needs.

Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle cash and transactions accurately. Ability to follow regulations and company procedures diligently.

Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with cannabis laws, including patient verification, product restrictions, and regulatory requirements. Must be willing to undergo background checks and required training.

Work Ethic: Reliable, responsible, and committed to providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

Regularly work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet staffing needs of our retail setting.

Current driver’s license and dependable transportation.

Must be able to obtain and keep a ABCA Agent Dispensary Identification Card.

Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.

A professional appearance and demeanor.

This position requires frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking, handling/grasping of products.

Spend several hours a day viewing a computer screen.

Required to adhere to a dress code.

Pay: up to $25 per hour + tips

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week

Shift: 10 hour shift / 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate: Washington, D.C. 20001

Regular attendance is expected and is considered an essential function; as it is necessary for the efficient operation of the business.
