What is Pier 360?
Pier 360 began in 1995 as a mental health support and advocacy nonprofit organization run by individuals with lived experience. In the 2000's it expanded to include mental health and/or substance use recovery, and all employees of the organization self-identify as being in recovery. Pier 360 (formerly CVAB) is a peer-run organization encouraging self-determination and self-sufficiency for people in mental health and substance use recovery. The heart of our agency is peer-to-peer support because we are people in recovery wanting to support others on their life's journey. Pier 360 is driven by our Core Focus and Core Values.
The Opportunity
Pier 360 seeks a motivated peer to coordinate sports and other wellness activities. All our employees are living in mental health and/or substance use recovery. As the Sports and Recreation Coordinator, you will support peers engaging in sports and activities to improve their wellness and social connection. The Sports and Recreation Coordinator performs a wide range of tasks to support people living their lives and directing their recovery, healing, and wellness.
The Responsibilities
Provide quality peer support services in alignment with Pier 360 Core Values and Core Competencies for Peer Workers in Behavioral Health Services (SAMHSA). For more details, please refer to the complete position description (available online).
The Qualifications
We are looking for positive people, self-motivated individuals, who have demonstrated the ability to work independently and well with others, are in mental health and/or substance use recovery, and are good at being with others seeking something better or different in life. The successful applicant will have experience planning and leading sports and activities.
The Benefits
$24-28 per hour, depending on experience and other considerations related to the position.
