Senior Software Engineer – Android AOSP (Hybrid)
$100K – $180K | Full-Time | Colorado Springs, CO 80920 (Hybrid)

About the Role
Seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Android AOSP. This role focuses on developing, customizing, and optimizing AOSP-based platforms for embedded hardware. Requires strong system-level programming, hardware integration, and networking/security knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and customize Android AOSP for embedded hardware (HAL, system services, low-level components).

· Modify and enhance Android frameworks and system-level components.

· Integrate custom software, drivers, and firmware onto device hardware.

· Build and maintain custom ROMs for specific devices/platforms.

· Implement and manage reliable OTA update processes.

· Debug and optimize Android system performance.

· Collaborate with hardware, security, DevOps, and QA teams.

· Provide technical leadership: mentoring, code reviews, architectural input.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science or related field.

· 10+ years in embedded software engineering with focus on AOSP.

· Hands-on experience with Android AOSP customization, migration, and porting.

· Proficient in C/C++; Java knowledge a plus.

· Strong understanding of networking protocols and wireless standards.

· Debugging, performance tuning, and system profiling expertise.

Preferred Skills

· Encryption protocols & authentication (PEAP, CHAP, TLS, 802.1x).

· Contributions to open-source or upstream projects.

· Familiarity with Android/embedded developer communities (e.g., XDA).

· Strong communication & documentation skills.
