Job Description
About the Role:
A Childcare Worker is a compassionate professional who provides care, guidance, and support to youth who have experienced trauma. This role goes beyond traditional childcare—it involves creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where young people can begin to heal, build trust, and develop the skills they need for a brighter future.
You will play a vital role in supporting youth as they navigate the impact of trauma, assisting with daily routines, modeling healthy coping strategies, and encouraging positive behaviors. By providing consistency, empathy, and trauma-informed care, you will help youth develop resilience, strengthen life skills, and feel a sense of belonging within the community.
At this time, we are seeking an experienced individual who is patient, dependable, and committed to supporting trauma-impacted youth. If you have prior experience working with young people who have behavioral, emotional, or trauma-related needs, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and supervision for youth in a safe, positive setting.
- Implement trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation and social development.
- Create and engage youth in daily routines, activities, and recreational programs.
- Model healthy coping strategies and positive behavior management techniques.
- Collaborate with staff, families, and community partners to support holistic care.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with youth, especially those with a history of trauma.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices.
- Strong communication, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond with empathy.
- Preferred but not required: CPR/First Aid Certification, relevant degree or coursework in Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
