Our boutique firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Attorney to lead and grow our litigation practice area in close coordination with the firm’s Founder.


This is a strategic, senior-level role for an attorney who wants autonomy, influence, and the ability to shape a practice in a nimble environment without the bureaucracy of a large firm. Compensation: Competitive, with a combination of base, origination/collections incentives, and leadership bonuses. Structure will be tailored based on the strength of the candidate’s existing portable book and level of experience.

Compensation:

$150,000+ dependent on experience & portable business

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Practice Lead for the firm’s commercial litigation group.
  • Manage and expand an existing docket of complex commercial and business disputes.
  • Act as primary strategist on litigation matters, including case assessment, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, settlement, trial preparation, and trial work.
  • Collaborate closely with the Firm Owner on firmwide strategy, cross-practice referrals, staff, pricing, and growth planning.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and legal support staff (or assist in building the team).
  • Oversee client service, quality control, and risk management within the practice area.
  • Contribute to business development efforts to expand both your book and the firm’s overall litigation footprint.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of commercial litigation experience, ideally with first-chair or significant second-chair trial exposure.
  • A portable book of business over $500,000, sufficient to support a senior-level role in a small firm environment and feed a portion of the workload in the commercial litigation practice group.
  • Proven ability to manage sophisticated litigation matters from intake to resolution.
  • Strong leadership instincts and a desire to build and scale a practice.
  • Ability, desire, and proven track record of developing new ongoing business to support a sustainable practice group workload.
  • Collaborative mindset and experience working with firm Owners/Equity Partners to shape initiatives, legal strategy, and business planning for the practice area.
  • A Business mindset with the professionalism and discipline needed in a small firm setting.
  • Excellent communication, client service, and relationship-building skills.
