Phoenix Design & Restoration — Richmond / Chesterfield, VA

We specialize in water, fire, and storm restoration, residential remodeling, renovations, additions, and custom construction. We are looking for a skilled carpenter who takes pride in their work, can work independently, and understands what it means to leave a customer's home better than they found it.

This is not a basic laborer position. We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years of residential carpentry experience who can confidently perform quality work with minimal supervision.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform residential framing, remodeling, and reconstruction
  • Complete finish carpentry, including trim, doors, baseboards, and crown molding
  • Install and repair drywall and perform basic drywall finishing
  • Install and repair flooring
  • Perform kitchen and bathroom renovations
  • Install and repair windows and doors
  • Build and repair decks, porches, stairs, and exterior structures
  • Assist with additions and larger reconstruction projects
  • Perform demolition and reconstruction associated with water, fire, and storm damage
  • Read plans, scopes of work, measurements, and project instructions
  • Identify potential problems and communicate them to the Project Manager or Superintendent
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Protect homeowner property and maintain a professional presence in occupied homes
  • Complete work according to company quality standards and project schedules
  • Work effectively with subcontractors, project managers, and other members of the construction team

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of residential carpentry experience
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction and remodeling
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, install, and finish materials
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot construction issues
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
  • Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners and team members
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Ability to safely operate common construction tools and equipment

Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience with restoration/reconstruction
  • Fire and water damage reconstruction experience
  • Finish carpentry experience
  • Experience reading construction plans or detailed scopes of work
  • Experience working in occupied homes
  • Ability to lead a small crew or take ownership of a project area

The Right Person for Phoenix

We're looking for a craftsman—not just someone looking for a paycheck.

The right candidate understands that remodeling and restoration work requires more than technical ability. You will be working in people's homes during what can often be a stressful and emotional situation. Professionalism, cleanliness, communication, and respect for the homeowner are just as important as the quality of the finished product.

You should be comfortable saying, "I don't know, but I'll find out," rather than guessing—and you should take ownership when something needs to be corrected.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on experience and skill level
  • Consistent residential construction and restoration work
  • Opportunity for advancement
  • Variety of projects—no two jobs are exactly alike
  • Support from an experienced Project Management and Field Leadership team
  • A professional work environment where quality workmanship is valued
  • Opportunity to take on increased responsibility and leadership

Compensation

$28–$35 per hour, based on experience, skill level, and demonstrated workmanship.

Exceptional candidates with significant lead/foreman-level experience may be considered above this range.

Before You Apply

Please include a brief summary of your residential carpentry experience.

We would also like to see 3–5 photos of recent carpentry, remodeling, or construction work you personally completed.

We are interested in seeing your actual workmanship, particularly:

  • Finish carpentry
  • Framing
  • Kitchens/bathrooms
  • Decks/porches
  • Doors/windows
  • Remodeling or restoration projects

If you're proud of your work, show us what you can do.

Equal Opportunity

Phoenix Design & Restoration is committed to providing a professional workplace and considers qualified applicants based on their skills, experience, qualifications, and ability to perform the position's essential functions.
