Job Description

Job Summary

The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing Boost's data infrastructure as part of our modern data platform initiative. This hands-on engineering role will focus on building scalable data pipelines, enabling a centralized enterprise data warehouse on Snowflake, and supporting business reporting needs via Tableau.

The ideal candidate will collaborate across technology, operations, product, and analytics teams to create high-quality, governed, and reusable data assets, while supporting a long-term architecture aligned with Boost's growth.

This role is highly technical and focused on execution and is ideal for a data engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about data quality, performance, and scalability.

Reports to: Head of Data Architecture and Reporting Strategy

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to support the enterprise data warehouse.

• Build and maintain Snowflake-based data models, ensuring performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

• Implement robust data ingestion processes from multiple sources (e.g., SQL Server, Salesforce, APIs, flat files).

• Collaborate with analytics and BI teams to power Tableau dashboards and support business reporting.

• Partner with business teams to understand existing reports used by internal and external users; rationalize and centralize data delivery.

• Assist in building a Single Source of Truth (SSOT) through automated and governed data pipelines.

• Apply AI/ML techniques where applicable for data quality, matching, and normalization.

• Enforce data security, access controls, and governance policies across platforms.

• Develop and document architecture standards, pipeline logic, and data dictionary.

• Optimize cost and performance of the Snowflake environment via clustering, caching, pruning, and resource monitoring.

• Participate in Agile sprint planning, standups, and cross-functional collaboration.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or a related field.

• Hands-on expertise with Snowflake including ingestion, transformation, and performance tuning.

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and ETL frameworks such as AWS Glue, or custom scripting.

• Experience designing and supporting cloud-based data platforms.

• Familiarity with Tableau or similar BI tools for enabling analytics use cases.

• Experience integrating data from APIs, flat files, and relational databases.

• Strong knowledge of data modeling (star/snowflake schemas), ELT/ETL best practices, and data pipeline orchestration.

• Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and access control.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data cleanup, fuzzy matching, or AI-driven normalization.

• Familiarity with version control (GitLab) and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.

• Knowledge of Salesforce data structures and integration practices.

• Previous experience in B2B payments or FinTech environments.

• Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Snowflake's performance monitoring features.

• Experience with building reusable data assets, reference data management, and lineage tracking.

We look for engineers who:

• Design for performance and reusability from day one.

• Embrace simplicity in data modeling and transformation.

• Integrate AI thoughtfully to enhance, not complicate, pipelines.

• Document and automate — not patch and forget.

• Collaborate across functions to bring transparency and trust to our data.
