Robert Half is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Legal Secretary with 5+ years of experience for a contract-to-hire position with a dynamic and fast-paced legal team. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of bankruptcy law, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage complex documentation under tight deadlines. This is a demanding yet rewarding role suited for a detail-oriented legal professional looking to grow within a firm specializing in bankruptcy and litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to attorneys specializing in bankruptcy law.
- Draft, format, proofread, and finalize bankruptcy-related legal documents, including petitions, schedules, motions, and filings.
- Manage e-filing systems for court submissions, ensuring compliance with court deadlines and procedures.
- Conduct legal research and maintain case files while keeping documentation organized and easily accessible.
- Communicate professionally and promptly with courts, clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in bankruptcy matters.
- Maintain attorneys' calendars, schedule hearings, and manage appointments and deadlines to ensure the smooth progression of cases.
- Proactively monitor client billing and invoice logs, confirming accurate entry of billable hours.
- Handle confidential information with discretion and adhere to ethical guidelines.
- Assist in coordinating meetings and preparing materials for hearings or client consultations.
- Support attorneys in preparing for trials or mediations as needed.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a legal secretary, preferably in bankruptcy law or litigation.
- Proficiency in bankruptcy filing systems (e.g., PACER, CM/ECF) and e-filing processes.
- Strong knowledge of bankruptcy procedures, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 cases.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software tools.
- Experience working in contract-to-hire roles or adapting to dynamic organizational needs is a plus.
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain discretion with sensitive information.
