Job Title: Field Service Engineer
Location: Washington, DC
Salary: Open for discussion (Depending on experience)
Travel: Up to 80% (Domestic) + Occasional International
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on and technically strong Field Service Engineer to support installation, maintenance, and commissioning of advanced electro-mechanical and DC power systems. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy fieldwork, travel, and working directly with customers in industrial and rail-related environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance at customer sites
- Execute retrofits and modernization projects in coordination with internal teams
- Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning activities
- Conduct equipment audits and technical assessments
- Prepare technical reports and service documentation
- Support sales teams with site surveys and repair quotations
- Deliver customer training on installed systems when required
- Identify and promote service-related business opportunities
Technical Expertise
- DC switchgear, high-speed breakers, panels
- Rectifiers, power converters, voltage limiting devices
- Protection relays and electro-mechanical systems
- DC power systems (LV/MV up to 3kV)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering OR equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in field service, installation, or maintenance of electrical systems
- Experience with power distribution / switchgear systems
- Strong knowledge of DC systems
- OSHA certification, First Aid & CPR (preferred/required)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Office 365)

Work Environment
- Field-based role across industrial, utility, and substation sites
- Exposure to outdoor conditions and physically demanding tasks
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights when required
- Strict adherence to safety protocols (LOTO, PPE, etc.)
