- $18/hr. Seasonal (Now – October)
- Saturday & Sunday – 1 pm – sunset (typically between 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm)
You will be working at a lake and responsible for supervising recreational boating, fishing, and hiking activities at Shenipsit Lake in the towns of Tolland and Ellington, to enforce state recreational permit conditions and restrictions. The Lake Monitor will be responsible for:
Overseeing the fishing program including greeting all program participants in a professional manner; checking and unlocking boats; ensuring boat storage racks and the boat shed are in good condition; and checking fishing licenses and safe boating certificates.Educating and assisting the public on the rules and regulations of the Shenipsit Lake Recreation Program by directing them to signage and brochures.
Patrolling fishing areas and parking areas daily by foot and by car (use of personal vehicle required) to identify, document, and report permit violations such as illegal dumping, swimming, disturbance/removal of vegetation, erosion, vandalism, etc.
- Utilizing a company issued iPad to record all permit violations, incidents, and daily boat and activity use.
- Patrolling the hiking trail at least once a week and additionally as necessary based on the level of use.
- Controlling litter
- Returning all messages left on the answering machine.
- Any other duties assigned.
Lake Monitors must have their own vehicle as you will be required to drive around the perimeter of the grounds during your shift. Mileage is reimbursed.
