Maintenance Technician
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Pay: $24 - $30/hour based on experience
Shift: 1st shift
Summary:
Provide mechanical / electrical support to the plant.Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Include the following but not unlimited too as other duties may be assigned.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
- Lay out, assembles, installs, and maintains equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
- Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment.
- Assists in production by learning the different jobs and steps into production when maintenance is not required.
- Assists in ensuring all equipment preventative maintenance is done and documented.
Education, Experience and Skills Required for the Job Are:
- Education / Experience – High School Diploma or equivalent GED; three or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience in hydraulic, HVAC, welding, electrical, plumbing and mechanically incline.
- Language Skills – Must have the ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals and maintenance instructions. Bilingual in English and Spanish is desired but not necessary.
- Mathematical Skills – Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
- Interpersonal Skills – Must be able to work as part of a team.
- Physical Demands – While performing maintenance associate duties must be able to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.Must regularly lift
- and/or move 50 pounds throughout shift.Will be required to work around flour, nuts and other bakery ingredients.
- May be required to work overtime as scheduled.Must be available by phone (or cell) for emergency situations and break downs of equipment.
- Be able to react to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 10 pounds and moving it to the fire area;
- Specific visual requirements for this job – close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
