The primary role of a warehouse worker is to receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from the stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. This position involves maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring an organized storage environment.
Responsibilities
- Receive and count stock items, recording data manually or using a computer.
- Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
- Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
- Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
- Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
- Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.
- Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.

- Team player and detail-oriented.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5-7 years of experience required.
- Willing to work a flexible shift.
- Willing and able to stand at least 8 hours with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willing and able to perform tasks that include pushing, pulling, grasping, and lifting with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willing and able to carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Experience with inventory, picking, material handling, packing, order picking, and RF scanner.

Work Environment
The warehouse is climate-controlled and provides a clean and organized facility. Employees can wear jeans, khakis, dress pants, capri pants (no shorter than mid-calf), scrubs, t-shirts, polo shirts, sneakers, closed-toe shoes, leggings, sweatpants, spandex pants, jackets, hoodies, and sweaters without pockets. However, sleeveless shirts, shorts, scarves or dangling jewelry, jackets/hoodies/sweaters with pockets, clothing with inappropriate words or graphics, hats or head coverings, ripped jeans or clothing showing skin, exposed midriffs, or pajama pants are not permitted. This is a Contract position based out of Mechanicsville, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
