Senior Operations Technician

This opportunity is contingent upon contract award

Summary:

Works in support of the Chief, Training Division who enforces applicable regulatory and command-directed range and training area safety guidance. Independently plans and carries out work in accordance with applicable guidelines. Uses judgment and initiative to make on-site decisions to prevent dangerous situations from occurring which could lead to serious injuries and loss of life. Makes recommendations on unusual problems or situations that deviate from the norm. Possesses an understanding of military training requirements and live fire training events for a wide variety of Army military occupational specialties. Work is periodically reviewed for compliance with oral and regulatory guidance, Standard Operating Procedures, and special instructions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serves as the Contractor senior supervisor for range operations and the firing desk in support of the Chief, Training Division by participating in the management and operational functioning of the facility’s live fire ranges and training areas.

Acts as the technical authority pertaining to range operations section during training and live fire events.

Directs and coordinates the full spectrum of range safety functions in the absence of the DAC staff and provides continuity in operations.

Works jointly with the Range Branch government staff in the planning, development and execution of the programs, policies and procedures involved in the safe operation of live fire ranges and training areas.

Ensures that range safety requirements are adhered to in the scheduling of range use, maintenance, modification, and installation of ranges and training facilities.

Provides safety related input to the Chief, Training Division regarding changes to or new firing requests i.e. combined arms exercises, temporary firing, and testing of prototypes.

Makes basic determinations regarding the advisability or inadvisability of requested non-standard training, and makes recommendation to the Chief, Training Division.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates Degree or in place of education requirement, five (5) years of relevant job experience
  • US Citizen
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience in a multidiscipline environment comparable to that offer under this program
  • Readily available on-site during regular working hours
  • Ability to pass background investigation
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
  • Possess an understanding of military training requirements and live fire training events for a wide variety of Army military occupational specialties.
  • Familiar with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a work ethic that includes neatness, punctuality, and accuracy; exhibit a professional, business-like appearance and demeanor
