We are seeking a qualified Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive behavioral health services in a Military Treatment Facility (MTF). The psychiatrist will provide inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary behavioral health team.

Schedule Full-Time: Monday–Friday

  • Hours: 7:30 AM–4:30 PM
  • Maximum 80 hours per two-week pay period
  • Rotating on-call coverage is required and may include weeknights and weekends
  • On-call coverage may also include federal holidays as required
  • Schedule may be adjusted based on mission requirements and mutual agreement

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
  • Graduate of an appropriately accredited/approved medical school
  • Foreign medical graduates must have appropriate ECFMG certification

Board Status

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Certification must be through an ABMS-member board or AOA-recognized board
  • Board-eligible physicians must obtain board certification within 2 years of hire

License

  • Must maintain a current, unrestricted medical license in the U.S. jurisdiction where the Military Treatment Facility is located

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of adult patients
  • Perform mental status examinations and establish diagnoses
  • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans
  • Provide medication management and pharmacologic treatment
  • Provide individual, group, family, and behavioral therapeutic interventions as appropriate
  • Provide crisis intervention and referrals for psychiatric hospitalization when necessary
  • Determine when additional psychological, neurological, medical, or diagnostic testing is required
  • Coordinate care with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, behavioral health specialists, and other healthcare professionals
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services
  • Evaluate patients for potential long-term residential treatment
  • Participate in required weeknight and weekend on-call rotations

Psychiatry Consultation Services

  • Provide consultation to inpatient psychiatry teams
  • Assist with patient evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning
  • Consult with other MTF physicians regarding patients with psychiatric and medical conditions
  • Support prevention and behavioral health initiatives, including support groups, educational programs, parenting classes, and related briefings
  • Provide in-service training to MTF staff as appropriate
