If you have a passion for farming and youth education this position might be for you! We need dependable and farm focused individuals to help run our farm and garden program. As a farm specialist you will work under the farm supervisor to provide articulate and lead farm activities. You will be responsible for support of garden maintenance, maintaining a clean work environment, animal handling, and bringing a personal twist to our farm program.

Who You Are

  • Collaborative and communicative, supporting other staff and site leaders
  • Knowledgeable and skilled on ALL things farm (preferably someone with a background in farming and small to large animal care, and gardening skills)
  • Flexible to maintain two camp locations for animal, garden and camper care
  • You thrive in fast paced dynamic environments, and adapt quickly
  • Excited to take initiative, solve problems, and help create a safe, joyful camp culture
  • Confident leading hands-on, active programs across multiple age groups

What You'll Do

  • Plan, and lead farm focused activities like: Baby Chick Handling, Llama Hikes, Plant Identification, Gardening and so much more.
  • Maintain and clean farm areas
  • Flexibility as everyday may not be farm, some days you'll join regular camp days
  • Lead a group of 12 campers (ages 5-15) through a day of farm programming filled with animal fun facts, farming education and gardening knowledge
  • Must report to Farm and Garden Supervisor, Farm Managers and Camp Directors for support, scheduling and logistics daily
  • Must attend all staff training
  • Build meaningful connections with campers, guiding them through daily activities and group dynamics
  • Participate actively in all programming
  • Help create a camp environment that encourages exploration, kindness, and personal growth

Fine Print

  • Seasonal Position: Full-time (45–50 hrs/week) during summer, typically scheduled between 7:00am and 6:00pm, Monday–Friday.
  • Location: Colorado Springs
  • Qualifications:
    • Age: 18+
    • Experience working with children, gardens and animals (required)
    • CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certificationsValid driver's license (eligible to drive camp vehicles after training)
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to move actively throughout camp, supervise children and animals outdoors, and maintain awareness in a dynamic environment.
  • Go West Camps is a drug-, alcohol-, and tobacco-free facility. Participation in occasional overnights and weekend programs may be required.
