Software Developer (Pending Award)
Lexical Intelligence provides software and services related to processing large-scale biomedical information sources. Our Natural Language Processing (NLP) and analytics software is used by policy and decision makers to evaluate and prioritize current and emerging areas of research.
We are looking for a Software Developer to work within the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The Software Developer will have experience in software development, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML). The Software Developer will have a firm understanding of biomedical informatics and data science. The Software Developer shall be able to work well within a team of researchers, data scientists, and IT professionals. The selected applicant will be subject to a pre-employment background and reference check.
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of software development experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or other equivalent engineering disciplines
- Experience with software analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Javascript, Typescript, Python, C++, R, SAS
- Experience with database design and management (SQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Knowledge of web-based and user interface design based on user needs analyses
- Familiarity with the Linux / POSIX commandline
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and NLP
- Experience with cloud computing services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Knowledge of FISMA requirements and security practices
- Experience with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (GitHub, GitLab)
- Knowledge of Section 508 compliance requirements for accessibility
- Experience in biomedical research, clinical data analytics, or healthcare informatics
Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with organizational security and privacy policies, protecting sensitive data and systems, reporting security incidents, and participating in required cybersecurity training. The role may also involve implementing best practices related to access control, data handling, and risk mitigation within the scope of assigned duties.
