Overview:

We are actively seeking an experienced Offshore Cable Termination & Inspection Specialist for a high-profile offshore wind project with a client in Long Island, NY. This role is focused on the inspection and quality assurance of high-voltage (HV/MV) cable terminations and jointing work. The position is expected to start immediately and will require on-site presence, with travel and per diem expenses covered according to the project’s policy.

This is a contract opportunity offering a competitive pay rate, with potential flexibility pending client confirmation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections of cable systems at offshore and onshore locations using project-specified reporting tools.

• Witness VLF, sheath, and OTDR testing, and support additional termination and cable testing as needed.

• Ensure the contractor completes all documentation of works and services in line with agreed RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements).

• Enforce and comply with all client and project-specific HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards.

Day-to-Day Tasks:

• QA/QC inspections of cable jointing and terminations, including punch list follow-up.

• Review and monitor contractor progress and documentation daily.

• Submit daily progress reports to the Export Cable Technical Scope Manager.

• Ensure timely execution of cable testing activities and availability of required test equipment.

• Participate in the Permit to Work process and manage SAP availability for switching activities.

• Manage and archive testing and termination documentation.

• Interface with cable installation contractors and other key project packages (WTG, FOU, OSS).

• Provide input on technical recommendations, lessons learned, and end-of-shift reports.

Key Deliverables:

• Technical reports, interface inputs, and documentation for record-keeping.

• Minutes from contractor meetings.

• Technical lessons learned for knowledge sharing with the Project Engineer.

• Archived jointing and termination documentation.

Success Criteria & Decision Scope:

• Deliver high-quality inspections and quality control of cable jointing and terminations.

• Recommend project changes (related to timeline, cost, or quality) to the Export Cable Project Engineer and Technical Scope Manager.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Driver’s License and current First Aid Certification.

• Formal training or hands-on experience with:

  • HV/MV Jointing & Termination

  • VLF Testing

  • OTDR Testing

  • Safe Work in High Voltage/Low Voltage Substation Environments

• Familiarity with:

  • Cable cleating and ladder systems

  • Subsea cable hang-off systems

  • Earthing and bonding

Additional Information:

• Travel expenses and GSA Per Diem will be reimbursed per project policy.
