Make a meaningful impact supporting students with special needs as a Special Education Teacher working with grades 3-8. This contract opportunity offers the chance to help shape young learners’ academic and social development while working in a collaborative environment near Sevierville, TN.
As a valued educator, you will work full-time—40 hours per week, Monday through Friday—serving a manageable caseload of about 23 students. Your day-to-day will involve designing individualized lesson plans, adapting curriculum, implementing IEPs, and closely tracking student progress. Collaboration with families and support staff is key to empowering each student’s growth and success.
Qualifications:
- Valid 461 TN SPED License required
- Experience working with 3rd through 8th graders preferred
- Ability to create and implement effective individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills for engaging students, families, and colleagues
- Organizational skills for managing caseload and documentation
- Adaptability and a positive approach to supporting diverse learning needs
Responsibilities:
- Teach and modify lessons to meet IEP goals for each student
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff
- Communicate routinely with families regarding student progress and strategies
- Participate in IEP meetings and complete necessary documentation
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and productive classroom environment
- Monitor, evaluate, and record student progress and adjust instructional methods
