MPD Field Service Technician.
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
Location: Midland, TX
Job Type: Full-time | Temporary
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused MPD Field Service Technician II to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) operations in the field, including equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and operational support on drilling rigs.

Principal Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with iWS and customer HSE policies.
- Install and operate the MPD Control System on drilling rigs.
- Support technical aspects of MPD activities during project operations.
- Provide project support and technical guidance to clients, drilling contractors, and MPD operational personnel through the Well Site Supervisor (WSS).
- Assist in the development of End-of-Well Reports (EOWR).
- Develop event graphs regularly or upon customer request.
Primary Roles
- Ensure compliance with all QHSE procedures throughout operational activities.
- Calibrate, document, troubleshoot, and repair or replace instrumentation systems used to measure and control pressure, flow, temperature, level, and other process variables.
- Assist with rig-up and rig-down operations under the direction of the WSS.
- Apply a systematic troubleshooting approach and provide operational support as needed.
- Maintain continuous support for drilling operations.
- Perform maintenance and system checks on MPD equipment.
- Monitor choke manifold operations and supporting equipment while operating system components under the guidance of the WSS.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with calibration, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and project start-up activities.
- Knowledge of MPD system components and operations.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of MPD Choke Control Software.
- Basic knowledge of setting up and operating MPD applications.
- Ability to operate multi-meters and signal generators for instrumentation setup and calibration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Education & Experience
- Requirements 2-4 years of field experience in the oil and gas industry, including drilling rig operations.
- Preferred 2-3 years of experience related to MPD, UBD, or PMCD operations.
- Technical competency with MPD operations and equipment.
- Good understanding of risk assessment and mitigation processes.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to climb, lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces and elevated platforms, and wear all required PPE. The position requires extended work hours and overtime as needed.
Working Conditions
This is primarily a field-based position requiring worldwide travel on short notice.
There is no set rotation schedule, and employees may remain in the field for more than 30 consecutive days at a time. Typical shifts are 12 hours; however, including shift handovers and required meetings, workdays may extend to 14 hours.
In the event of MPD system issues while off shift, employees may be required to assist with troubleshooting and repairs. Due to the high-value nature of MPD projects, equipment downtime can create high-pressure work environments.
