Job Summary
Responsible for opening and closing identified facilities and amenities, on stand active lifeguarding, in-service training, routine pool maintenance and cleaning. Administrative duties include electronically completing various reports, flyers and other promotional material, preparing correspondence, preparing and co-leading meetings, issuing, receiving and inventorying equipment and supplies and assisting with training and supervising of the Lifeguard staff. The Lifeguard Lead will report directly to the Aquatics and Recreation Program Specialists.

Essential Duties

  1. Supervises building and daily operations as directed.
  2. Responsible for providing superb customer service to members, customers, and guests.
  3. Responsible for ensuring subordinate staff do the same.
  4. Assists in the development, implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures for staff.
  5. Serves as MOD (Manager on Duty) as assigned.
  6. Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as assigned.
  7. Adheres to opening and closing procedures, including but not limited to, unlocks/locks facility front doors,
    opens/closes garage doors, daily pool chemical checks, ensures cleanliness of pool area and functionality of
    related equipment, and any pump room pool checks. Secures facility at closing by making sure all rooms are
    clean and equipment is stored, ensures all gates, doors, garage doors are locked and secure; and performs
    a final walk through to ensure no persons are still in the building.
  8. Performs various administrative duties, including, but not limited to, training staff, tracking of staff in-service
    training, recording daily and weekly (monthly, quarterly, annual) pool chemical checks, and recording/filing
    of staff certifications.
  9. Knowledge of pool chemicals such as chlorine and PH levels and reports levels to supervisors are required.
  10. Knowledge of basic pump room operations to include filter, strainer basket, chemical feed systems, and
    water flow are required.
  11. Works and/or serves as event lead at special events as assigned.
  12. Performs janitorial duties and maintenance as needed including, but not limited to, trash removal, cleaning
    restrooms, pool area, and pump room.
  13. Performs CPR and AED as needed.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned; including knowledgeable of facility EAP and able to perform necessary
    action plan duties.
  15. Serves as the on-call manager as assigned on weekends, and holidays.
  16. Able to work early mornings, evenings/nights, daytime hours, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or some college coursework preferred. Experience in the customer service industry, with cash management responsibilities preferred. Must have the ability to learn industry software specific to Parks and Recreation facilities management, registration and cash management. Must possess Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications, Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification and Certified Pool Operator certification or have the ability to obtain these certifications within forty-five days of employment start date. Valid, Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent human relations skills and sound verbal & written communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of office computer systems, including but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel and RecTrac.
  • Ability to perform Pool chemical tests using multiple different test kits.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities and cultural differences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perceive material and supply needs.

Physical Requirements
Job Duties are typically performed in an indoor climate-controlled environment. Position requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time when necessary. Applicants must be able to transport themselves and move about a building, grounds and athletic fields. Position requires the senses of eyesight, hearing and speech. Position requires the ability to lift and carry loads up to 50lbs and to work outdoors in all types of weather. Position requires the ability to perform lifeguard skills in water and on land as needed, etc.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee may be exposed to seasonal temperatures, the sun for extended periods of time, wet or humid conditions, blood borne pathogens, body fluids of others, and toxic & caustic chemicals. The noise levels in the work environment can be moderately loud on occasion.
