Senior Air Compressor Field Technician

The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Air Compressor Field Technician to join our service team in the Houston area. This role is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance on a variety of compressed air systems at customer facilities.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with industrial equipment, and the ability to diagnose problems accurately, communicate clearly, and complete work safely and professionally. This position requires local travel to customer sites in an assigned company service vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshooting & Repair: Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues on rotary screw, reciprocating, and oil-free air compressors, dryers, motors, controls, sensors, valves, and related compressed air equipment.
Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine and advanced preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability, maximize performance, and reduce customer downtime.
Equipment Installation: Install new air compressor systems, dryers, rental equipment, and related components at customer facilities.
Advanced Diagnostics: Use service manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, diagnostic tools, and technical documentation to identify issues and recommend proper repairs.
Digital Documentation: Accurately log service activity, maintenance records, parts usage, timekeeping, and work orders using an assigned tablet.
Customer Communication: Explain technical findings, service needs, and repair recommendations clearly and professionally to customers and supervisors.
Vehicle & Fleet Safety: Safely operate an assigned service vehicle and ensure the vehicle, tools, and equipment are properly maintained.
Workplace Organization: Keep tools, parts, work areas, and service vehicles organized, clean, and safe.
Team Support: Work closely with dispatchers, management, and other technicians to complete service calls, installations, and larger projects safely and on time.
Leadership & Accountability: Serve as a senior field representative of the company by taking ownership of assigned jobs, helping solve complex issues, and supporting the overall success of the service team.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 3+ years of experience as an air compressor technician, industrial maintenance technician, HVAC technician, or similar mechanical/electrical service role is strongly preferred.
Senior-Level Technical Skill: Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability with compressors, motors, controls, sensors, valves, dryers, and industrial equipment.
Compressed Air Knowledge: Experience with rotary screw, reciprocating, and oil-free compressors is preferred.
Driving Requirement: Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record to safely operate a company service vehicle.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand, bend, work with tools, and perform hands-on service work in shop, field, outdoor, and industrial environments.
Tool & Diagnostic Ability: Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, test instruments, and advanced diagnostic equipment.
Diagram Literacy: Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical diagrams, and technical documentation.
Technology: Comfortable using tablets or mobile technology for work orders, service notes, timekeeping, parts research, and documentation.
Professional Traits: Detail-oriented, dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
Customer Service: Strong communication skills and the ability to professionally explain service needs and recommendations to customers.
Safety Focus: Commitment to following company procedures, customer site requirements, and safety standards at all times.
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Vocational, trade, or technical school training in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or industrial maintenance is a plus.
